Welcome to the Clay Con West Scholarship Essay Contest

About  me, Deb: The Clay Con West Scholarship Essay Contest was born out of a passion for the clay community and a desire to give back. After attending my first Clay Con West in 2023, I was filled with excitement and inspiration. The event not only taught me invaluable lessons about working with clay but also introduced me to a supportive community of artists. Inspired by this experience, I wanted to find a way to deepen my involvement and contribute to the community that had welcomed me so warmly.The Clay Con West Scholarship Essay Contest aims to support first-time attendees of Clay Con West who are passionate about pottery and eager to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field. Inspired by our community's generosity and creativity, this scholarship provides an opportunity for budding ceramic artists to participate fully in the conference.

Contest Rules:

1. Eligibility:

   • The contest is open to individuals who are first-time attendees of Clay Con West.
   • Participants must attend Clay Con West to claim their prize.

2. Essay Topic:

   • Applicants are required to submit a written essay or statement addressing the following:
     • Why are you passionate about pottery?
     • What do you hope to gain from attending Clay Con West?
     • How do you plan to use the knowledge and skills acquired to further your pottery practice?

3. Submission Guidelines:

   • Essays must be submitted via email to Deb at  [email protected]
   • Include full name, email, address and phone number.

4. Deadline:

   • The deadline for submission is September 14, 20024.

5. Prize:

   • The winner will receive a full Clay Con West pass.
   • In addition, the winner will receive $500 for travel and lodging expenses associated with attending Clay Con West.
     • Scholarship payment will be made at Clay Con West, not prior.

6. Notification:

   • The winner will be notified via email by September 30, 2024.
